On March 8th, women take to the streets across the world, advocating for their rights. But Mexico City is not just any city, and Mexico is not just any country. In Mexico, ten women are killed every day simply because of their gender. As violence against women continues to grow more brutal each year, their voices remain silenced.

On March 8th, women gather and march from El Paseo de la Reforma to the Zócalo, where the presidential palace stands. Men are forbidden to walk alongside them—they are hard to trust now, hard to rely on. The atmosphere is heavy yet deeply emotional. Together, they sing "somos el grito de las que no están" (“we are the scream of those who are no longer here”), honoring the memory of those lost to misogynistic violence and Las Encapuchadas call for the dismantling of the patriarchy—"Verga violadora, a la licuadora."
